Installation in four steps
- 1Mount the drive ring on the wheel spokes and the motor bracket on the pedestal.
- 2Run the belt, tension it and check the clutch disengages freely.
- 3Connect the drive and power to the controller, calibrate the compass in the app.
- 4Engage the clutch, press +1 and let the autopilot steer.

The drive ring fits most wheels from about 40 to 100 cm with 3 to 8 spokes. Send a photo of your wheel and pedestal and we will confirm.
Yes. Flip the clutch lever and the wheel is free. You can also disengage from the remote or app.
The belt drive is quieter than a chain drive and only runs when a correction is needed. See the owner question below for a comparison with the tiller drive.
Not for most sailboats. For motorboats and heavier boats a rudder reference unit makes the steering more precise and is recommended.
The DC motor generally makes more noise. It has metal gears instead of partially plastic ones. The tiller drive is quieter, and a system with rudder position sensing also makes less noise because fewer movements are needed.
